Sydney is also offering two classes on Friday:

The Set in Sleeve: Sleeve Variations and How to Set Them in, Friday, September 9th from 9:00 - 12:00 (Homework required!)

In this class, Sydney identifies different sleeves & sleeve caps that became popular in the 1930s -1950s, and their overall effect on the finished garment. We begin with a lecture that demonstrates how to achieve some of these styles, and tips for making a successful set-in sleeve. Part two of the class will be your turn to try your hand at it! Together, we will practice setting in a 1940s puffed sleeve using different combinations of the mattress stitch and troubleshoot any issues that could arise along the way. This is an excellent class for anyone looking to home in on their seaming skills!

Class fee is $95, this is a three-hour class with a 15 min break, drinks and snacks will be included.

Materials required: please bring a tapestry needle with you, and well as your completed homework pieces (homework sheet will be sent to you via email upon registration

Knitting Detectives: Decoding and Modifying Vintage Patterns, Friday, September 9th from 2:00 - 4:00

Grab your deerstalker hats, detectives! If you have shied away from vintage patterns due to the abbreviated directions or lack of inclusive sizing, then this is the class for you. Join Sydney as she goes into how to read vintage patterns from the 1930s - 1950s, as well as how to resize them. Together, we'll look at how to find yarn & needle alternatives, tips for following vintage pattern instructions, and modifying construction techniques to be more efficient for the modern knitter. As many vintage patterns come in a single size, we will spend a portion of the class discussing ways to adjust vintage patterns for a better fit. While there will be a sample pattern we decode as a group, feel free to bring a vintage pattern you've been dreaming of making too!

Class fee is $65, this is a two-hour class, drinks and snacks will be included.

Materials required: a measuring tape, and a notebook & pencil
